A Call for Social Justice

School Leaders for Equity and Excellence

Three years ago, we designed our principalship program to transform educators into insightful, thriving leaders who strive to make schools successful for all children, regardless of student backgrounds or differences.

Guided by two main principles, our program fosters a deep commitment to social justice and equitable schooling for all students and emphasizes the role of school principals as instructional leaders who are highly involved in organizing and developing schools focused on effective teaching and learning.

We begin and end each summer session with A Call for Social Justice. Community members, principalship program cohort members, campus mentors, and university staff gather together to re-affirm our commitment to achieving success for all students. Through guest speakers, panel discussions, and celebrations of those who have answered the call for social justice, we make the point that each of us can create extraordinary change in the lives of those we serve.

Attached are the programs from this year’s events. If you would like to attend A Call for Social Justice in May or July 2009, please contact us at principalship@austin.utexas.edu.
