Data use for educational improvement is studied under many guises (e.g., data use, data-based decision-making, data-driven decision-making, evidence use), all with the same intention: providing districts, schools, and educators with better information that can help educate children.  If offered in a useful form, such data can help teachers, principals and other educational personnel learn more about their students, improve their teaching craft, and ultimately impact a variety of educational outcomes.

This website provides resources to support the effective use of educational data at the K-12 level. In its current form, this site provides access to the published work of Jeffrey C. Wayman at the University of Texas at Austin. Check back often for newly-released work.

In November 2007, Dr. Wayman released a report, "The Data-Informed District: A District-Wide Evaluation of Data Use in the Natrona County School District," representing one of the most detailed and broad examinations of data use throughout a large district. The findings and recommendations from this report should be useful to any district looking to improve their data practices.
